My Encounter with Archangel Gabriel
When I was 16-years-old I struggled with some significant health issues and battled darkness for the first time—which later I would discover would change me forever. I write about this in my upcoming book Awakening to Thrive.
While healing during this health crisis, my mom took me to a Reiki and Natoropathic Doctor. This was my first exposure with “Reiki” or working with Universal life force energy or Holy Spirit.
During one of our sessions I felt an incredible heat and then my consciousnesses drifted in and out. My third eye painted vivid images of colors, most notably at that time, green and cooper. Energy swirled all around. I later learned this was energy work or how Reiki heals— vibrations that balance the soul…
After the session, the practitioner asked me to get off the table and “draw an angel card.” With bewilderment, I simply picked the top card.
He said, “No. No. you got the FEEL into which card to draw.”
So instinctually I put my hand an inch or two above the cards and slowly waved it above the cards until a card felt warm or my hand “magnetized” to it.
The card was green and cooper and written on it was “Archangel Gabriel.”
At 16 years old I didn’t know what Reiki was, let alone oracle cards or angels, really. While this was from a knowledge base a whole new world, it some how felt familiar. It felt more natural than high school. Energies, realm and realities beyond our perceptions just made sense.
The practitioner said, “Indeed. That’s who I felt around you. You’re very creative and have messages to share. That’s why Archangel Gabriel’s around you so often.”
Art at that time was a big part of my life. I loved all kinds of art. Here’s a collage I created, around this time, to illustrate the awakening process:
After this encounter years went by and I didn’t consciously work with Archangel Gabriel until the last two years, in which s/he began popping in my meditations gently encouraging me to use my creativity and be a spiritual entrepreneur, and to help other spiritual entrepreneur and practitioners.
Gabriel has an awe inspiring aura and often “comes in” with the colors of green and cooper. I often see him/her with a trumpet; although, I’ve read s/he also sometimes hold a peace lily. The world needs healing and light more than every right now!
